First Thing to Do: Check Your Eligibility
Before moving to the detailed information about the skilled migration visa program, it’s best to check your eligibility for the Australian state-nominated visa. In general, the available visa subclasses for this program are Visa 491 and Visa 190.
In general, to be eligible for the visa, you must:
Have an occupation on the relevant skilled list
Have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation
Be invited to apply for the visa
Be able to score 65 points or more because this program is point-tested
Be under 45 years old
Besides these, you must also meet the state requirements, which you may check on each state government website.
Skilled Migration Program ACT 2022-23
As part of the 2022-23 skilled migration visa program, the Canberra Matrix Invitation Round has been open since 10 August 2022. Meaning the skilled migration program ACT is now open for new applicants. A specified number of nomination invitations are made available each month (prorated based on the annual allocation) to people employed in the top-ranked Matrix in each occupation.
Currently, the number set for the skilled migration visa program for ACT 2022-23 is:
800 places for the 190 visa
1920 places for the subclass 491 visa
State Nomination Program NT 2022-23
On 12 August 2022, the state nomination NT program received an interim allocation of skilled migration visa nominations for 2022–2033. The number of allocations for the nomination is not announced yet.
In addition, the NT government currently only accepts onshore state nomination NT applications, while offshore applications are currently closed. The reopening of offshore applications will be notified later.
